Create a Label Definition

To create a label definition

1. In the Data Model Explorer, right-click a label feature class and click Create Label Definition.
2. In the Label Properties dialog box, specify the text.

   In the sample select statement, the label text is the value of the attribute NAME_NUMBER of the parent feature class LM_POINT.

3. Click OK to save the label definition.

   A label item is displayed in the data model explorer. The select statement is displayed in the right pane.

4. Repeat these steps for any other label feature classes you need to define.
5. Specify the label definition properties in the Label Properties dialog box.

   For example, use the default select statement.

6. Click OK to save the definition.
