To add attributes to a feature class

  1. Right-click the feature class to which you want to add a column.
  2. Click Add Attributes to open the Add Attributes dialog box.
  3. Add attributes as shown in the following table.

    Description

    Name

    Specifies the column name. Enter a name that complies with Oracle format restrictions. If the column relates to data in another table, it is recommended that you use a prefix to indicate this relationship. Example: FID_<parent> or ID_<domain>.

    Caption

    Specifies the caption to be displayed in the feature class form. You can modify this caption later with the Form Designer.

    Description

    The description is shown as tool tip when the user points to the attribute in the detail pane of the data model administrator.

    Unit Type

    Selects a unit type, if required, such as Angle or Area.

    Unit

    Selects an appropriate unit, such as Gon Clockwise or Square Meter.

    Type

    Precision and Scale

    Specifies type and precision. In the list box, select the appropriate type, subject to Oracle specifications. See also Attribute Type, Precision and Scale.

    Default Value

    Specifies a default value. Optionally, assign a default value and specify whether the attribute is mandatory or optional.

    Optional

    Specifies whether the attribute is optional.

    Parent Tables

    Attribute relation settings, including Relation Type, Split Rule, and Merge Rule. See also Parent Table Settings.

    Select Domain

    Adds the relation to a domain table.

    Select Feature Classes

    Adds one or more relations to a feature class.
