To Set Up Hyperlinks for a Feature Layer

Hyperlinks provide a simple and powerful way to quickly associate a variety of documents (such as other drawings, bills of materials, or project schedules) with a drawing. You can also apply hyperlinks to feature layers.

To create a hyperlink to a web site

  1. At the command prompt, enter hyperlink.
  2. Select features in the drawing and press Enter when done.

    The Insert Hyperlink dialog box is displayed.

  3. Do one of the following:
    • Under Type the File or Web Page Name, enter the path and name of the website you want to associate with the hyperlink.
    • Click the Web Page button. Navigate to the location of the file that you want to associate with the hyperlink. Click Open.
  4. Click OK.

To set up a hyperlink from the Properties Palette

  1. Right-click a feature in the drawing and select Properties from the menu.
  2. In the Hyperlink section, click in the Web Address field and select Insert Hyperlink from the list.

    The Insert Hyperlink dialog box is displayed.

  3. Do one of the following:
    • Under Type the File or Web Page Name, enter the path and name of the website you want to associate with the hyperlink.
    • Click the Web Page button. Navigate to the location of the file that you want to associate with the hyperlink. Click Open.
  4. Click OK.
  5. Click the field next to Display Text and select Insert Hyperlink.
  6. Do one of the following:
    • Select a property from the list to display as descriptive text for the web address.
    • Create an expression that gets displayed with the web address.
    • Insert another hyperlink.
