There are several example scripts that illustrate how to use Python with 3ds Max. Samples can be found on the Autodesk Developer Network github repository, in a collection of scripts called Practical Examples For Python. This collection shows you how to create pip packages that can be installed in 3ds Max, and how to create startup scripts, among many other things.
