To retarget from one character to another

Create a HumanIK skeleton definition for each character.
- Open the
HumanIK window and select the target character from the
Character menu.
Note: The target character must have a Control rig. If the selected character has no Control rig,
Maya creates one.
- From the
Source menu, select
character, where
character is the name of your source character. (All HumanIK characters available in the scene are automatically listed in the
Source menu.)
The target character snaps to match the position of the source character.
- (Optional) To add the Control rig of the target character to a new animation layer, select an IK effector and click the
Create Layer from Selected button
in the
Animation Layer Editor. The entire rig is added to the new animLayer.
