Remesh Options

Redefines the topology of a mesh or selected components by splitting non-triangular faces into triangles. Use Remesh to create a uniformly tessellated triangular mesh or add detail to specific regions of the mesh surface.

Remesh and Preprocess Mesh (Mesh > Retopologize > ) can both be used to reduce the poly count of your input mesh, but there are particular scenarios when using one or the other produces better results. For more information, see Best practices for preprocessing a mesh with retopologize.

Use the following options to set what happens when you select Mesh > Remesh.

Max Edge Length

Determines the longest possible edge on the result mesh. Automatic sets this to the average edge length of the original model. Custom allows you to set your own maximum edge length in world space units.

Collapse Threshold (%)

A percentage of the max edge length. Edges shorter than this percentage will be collapsed to a single vertex. This attribute is used to clean up edge subdivisions.

Smooth Strength

The amount of smoothing applied to the vertices after remeshing.

Interpolation Type

The algorithm used for determining the position of new points. Use Hybrid for the best result.

Tessellate Borders

Specifies if the area just beyond the border of the selected region is included in the remesh.
