Drop dots with Quad Draw

Dots (vertices) create the framework for your polygons.

To drop dots with Quad Draw

  1. Make sure the Quad Draw Tool is turned on. See Retopologize a mesh with Quad Draw.
  2. Set a reference mesh.

A reference mesh is the model you want to retopologize. If you don't set a reference mesh, the Quad Draw tool automatically snaps to the grid.

  3. (Optional) Set Symmetry appropriately in the Modeling Toolkit if you want to create symmetrical dots across an axis.
  4. Click anywhere on the reference mesh.

A green dot appears and snaps to the surface of the reference mesh.

  5. Click anywhere on the reference mesh.

A green dot appears and snaps to the surface of the reference mesh.

  6. (Optional) Drag a dot to a new location to reposition it.
  7. (Optional) Ctrl + Shift-click a single dot to remove it, or in the Modeling Toolkit panel, open Quad Draw Options, and click Clear Dots to remove all of the dots from the reference mesh.
  8. Continue to drop dots until you are ready to create polygons. See Create polygons with Quad Draw.
