Create custom fade interpolation curves for Story clips

You can create custom fade in and out interpolation curves for Story clips using the MotionBuilder FCurve tools. Access the Custom options from the Asset Settings window or Story clip context menu.

Create a custom fade in and out interpolation from the Asset Settings window

  1. In the Story window, double-click a clip.
  2. In the Assets Settings window under Character Clips Settings, set Fade In Interpolation to Custom.
  3. Use the FCurve and interpolation settings in this pane to create your custom curve.

  4. To create a curve for the fade out, repeat steps 2 and 3 using the Fade Out Interpolation options.

Create a custom fade in and out interpolation from the Story clip context menu

  1. In the Story window, right-click on the Story clip, and select Fade In Interpolation > Custom from the menu that appears.
  2. Double-click the Story clip.
  3. In the Asset Settings window that appears, click the Custom Fade In Interpolation tab.
  4. Use the FCurve and interpolation settings in this pane to create your custom curve.

  5. To create a curve for the fade out, repeat steps 1 to 4 using the Fade Out Interpolation options.
