This page highlights new features included in
Autodesk® Inventor® Nastran® 2018.2. Note that this list is not necessarily comprehensive. There may be other minor changes to the software that are not enumerated here.
New Features
- Mesh Improvements for Shell Meshes: All unstructured meshing modules now support the generation of cubic Serendipity elements, or elements with 2 mid-side nodes. There are also enhancements to the robustness of tri and quad surface meshing.
- Bug Fixes: This release includes a number of bug fixes for issues that existed in previous versions of
Inventor Nastran.
- Previously, contour plots of shell models that have the same top and bottom value were displaying correct results for one side of the element, but 0 for the opposite side. Now the contour plot properly displays values for the top and bottom side of the shell.
- Previously, when you tried to create an XY plot that included non-zero strain data, the strain was incorrectly plotted as zero. Now, the strain data is plotted correctly.
- Previously, the mesh convergence error was reported with units. Now, the mesh convergence error is correctly displayed with zero units.
- Previously, the Frictional Stiffness for Stick input for surface contact was labeled with length units. Now, the input is correctly labeled with force/length units.
- Beginning in
Inventor Nastran 2018, you could not select multiple items in the browser. This issue has been fixed so that you can now select multiple items using the Shift or CTRL key on your keyboard.
- Previously, when modifying the modal analysis setup with the Fetch option for the modal database with the mdb file generated by
Inventor Nastran, the S1051 error occurred. This issue has been resolved.
- Previously, when modifying the modal analysis setup with the Store option for the modal database, the user specified mdb file is not saved. This issue has been resolved.
- Previously, units were displayed for the Failure Mode, Failure Index, Weld Surface Strength Factor, AME Damage State, and Matrix Effective Plastic Strain for the Advanced Material Exchange results. Now these results are correctly displayed without units.
- Previously, PSD results for a random response analysis were displayed with incorrect units. Now all PSD results are displayed with correct units.
- Previously, when you create a multi-axial fatigue analysis that uses strain-life inputs, if you edit the material after supplying the E-N data, the fatigue button does not indicate that the fatigue properties are entered. This issue has been resolved.
