Saving your model for the first time

By default, PowerShape saves models to a user-specified location on the local network or disk.

To save your model for the first time using the default settings:

  1. Click File > Save.

The Windows Save As dialog is displayed:

  2. In the File name text box, type a name for the model.

If the name is already in use, a warning message is displayed. If you continue, the existing model is overwritten.

  3. Use the Save in option to specify the location of the file.
  4. Click Save.

When PowerShape is installed, a shared database is created, in which models can be stored if they are to be worked on collaboratively.

To save your model to the shared database:

  1. Click File > Options > Application Options > File > Model.
  2. Deselect the Always save and open from outside the database, and click OK.
  3. Click File > Save As. The Save Model As dialog is displayed:

  4. In the Model name text box, type a name for the model.

If the name is already in use, a warning message is displayed. If you continue, the existing model is overwritten.

If you import files into a new model, the name of the last imported file is used as the model name when you save it. For example, if the name of the last file imported is handle.igs, the model name is handle.

  5. In the Description text box, enter a description to help identify the model and its contents.
  6. Enter a Password if you want to protect the model from unauthorized access.
  7. To store the model on the local disk or network, click Store Outside Database, and use the Save As dialog to specify its location and name.

Alternatively, click Save to save the model in the database.
