When the Unidirectional tab is selected, the
New Release Definition dialog is displayed.
To define a release, specify a label and the direction of the releases for the beginning and the end of the member.
For displacements:
- None - No release in this direction.
- (Ux, Uy or Uz) "+" or "-" - Specifies release displacements Ux, Uy, or Uz in the beginning or in the end node of the member element, in the compatible ("+") or opposite ("-") direction with respect to the axis of the member's local coordinate system. The following image shows possible directions of releases.
For rotations:
- None - No release in this direction.
- (Rx, Ry or Rz) "+" or "-" - Specifies release rotations Rx, Ry, or Rz in the beginnig or the end node of the member element, in the compatible ("+") or opposite ("-") direction with respect to the axis of the member's local coordinate system (according to the principle of the right hand screw). The following image shows possible rotation releases.
For example, to define a release for the member in the previous image that makes this member only a tension member, define the release of the Ux+ direction at the beginning of the member or the release of the Ux- direction at the end of the member.
