Set Up the Project

Create a project in Revit and enter project-specific information.

Important: Revit models are not backwards-compatible. When you create or modify a model using the current release of the software, you cannot open the model later using a previous release.
  1. Create the project.

Use a project template provided by your CAD/BIM manager, or use a default template.

  2. Specify project information.

Enter the client name, project name, number, and address.

  3. Define positioning.

To provide context for the model, specify the geographic location and define True North, the survey point, and the project base point.

  4. Create construction phases.

By default, Revit defines an Existing phase and a New phase. It also indicates the demolition of existing construction. If you need additional project phases, create them.
