Apply a view filter to views to control the visibility and graphics of elements.
This video demonstrates the following:
View filters give you a powerful way to control visibility and graphics of elements based on the elements' parameter values. Filters may use a complex set of rules as criteria when applying an override. Because filters may be complex, you should consider adding them to project templates so they can be more easily used.
To add a filter to a view, on the Properties palette, select Visibility/Graphics Overrides. In the dialog, click the Filters tab. Click Add to add a filter to the view. If there are filters in the model that are not part of this view, select one from the list and click OK. If there are no filters listed, click Edit/New to define a new filter to use. See other related help topics for detailed information on creating a filter. In this example, the Fire Rated Walls filter is applied to the view.
Overrides are applied to the cut graphics for the filter. Any elements that meet the criteria of the filter are overridden as shown. Click OK to apply the filters to the view. You now see some of the walls are shaded red, indicating they are rated walls.
Open the Visibility and Graphics Overrides dialog by clicking Edit in the Properties palette. The filter tab lists all of the filters currently added to the view. If you don't need a particular filter for the view, you can remove it. If added back later, the override values will need to be set again.
As an alternative to removing the filter from the view you can clear the Enable in View option to remove the filter effects. This leaves the filter in case you need to use it later.
Use filters in views of your model to control visibility and graphics of elements based on parameters. Add filters to templates and then added, removed, or disabled for specific views you want to control.
