When you start a new model with a default template, 4 elevation view markers are a positioned in the view.

To create a new elevation view, click the View tab and then click Elevation. On the Type selector, select exterior or interior elevation. This controls where the elevation will appear in the Project Browser. In this example, we will create an exterior elevation.

As you place the elevation marker, Revit aligns the marker to nearby geometry. You can also cycle through possible directions using the Tab key. Click to place the elevation marker. Right-click the elevation in the Project Browser and rename the elevation.

To open the elevation view, double-click the elevation arrow or double-click the name in the Project Browser. Select the arrow of the marker to see the extents of the elevation view. Use the grips to control the crop region and the view depth of the view.

As your model changes, Revit automatically updates the elevations views.
