Make changes to your sheet layouts by moving views aligned to other sheets rather than manually removing and placing views on alternate sheets.
What is Move Aligned to Sheet?
This tool lets you move a view already placed on a sheet to another sheet in your model. When the view is moved to the other sheet, it will be positioned in exactly the same place on the target sheet as it was positioned on the original sheet. This tool will speed the process of rearranging views across your sheets. You will not need to remove and replace views to multiple sheets in your model.
Why should you use it?
Use Move Aligned to Sheet when laying out documentation for your model. You may have many sheets in the documentation set and it can be time consuming to place views on all the sheets. When changes occur in the needs of documentation, the changes may require views to change from one sheet to another. In these cases, this tool can make these changes easier to accomplish. Any time you are making changes to your document set, consider using this tool to assist you in making these changes. The tool supports the selection of multiple views to be moved to a target sheet, or select multiple views from the Project Browser placed on multiple sheets and use the tool to move those views to one target sheet.
When moving views to another sheet with this tool, use the search bar at the top of the dialog
to quickly find the target sheet for the views.
Where do you find Move Aligned to Sheet?
This tool is accessed with a right-click.
To move views to another sheet
- Select the views to move.
Note: Views can be selected from a sheet opened in the canvas, or from the Project Browser. When selecting views in the Project Browser, views can be moved from more than one sheet to the target sheet.
- Right-Click and select Move View Aligned to Sheet.
- In the dialog, select the target sheet.
Note: Use the search tool at the top of the dialog to help locate the target sheet.
- Click OK.
