Working with Shared Content

Beginning with Revit 2022 we have removed the mechanism which allowed installed Revit content to be on a shared location and not be modified by the product install from another user or uninstall from any user.

In order to support shared content, we recommend the following procedure.

  1. Download the desired language content from the Product Updates Page of your Autodesk account.
  2. Extract the Content packs to a shared location.

  3. Remove the Essential and Optional Content from the Revit installation.

  4. Install Revit with the default Content path locations.

  5. Use a custom Revit.ini to set each workstations paths to the shared content. For help, refer to About the Revit.ini file for Installation.
