Create the Domestic Cold Water System

  1. Select one or more plumbing fixtures in the plan view.
  2. Click Modify Plumbing Fixtures tabCreate Systems panel Piping.
  3. In the Create Piping System dialog, specify the following:
    • System Type: the type of fixture selected in the view determines which System Type it can be assigned to. For a plumbing system, the default system types are Sanitary, Domestic Cold Water, Domestic Hot Water, and Other.

      Select Domestic Cold Water.

      Note: You can also create custom System Types to handle other types of components and systems.
    • System Name: uniquely identifies the system. Revit suggests a System Name or you can enter a name.
  4. Click OK.

    The previously unassigned system is moved to the Piping folder in the System Browser.

  5. Click Modify Plumbing Fixtures tabLayout panel Generate Layout or Generate Placeholder .

    The Generate Layout tab is activated.

  6. On the Options Bar, click Settings to open a Pipe Conversion Settings dialog where you specify the offsets, and pipe types for the Main and Branch segments of your piping.

    For our example, Standard was selected for the type of pipe and the Offset was set to 1' 6" (450 mm) for both the Main and Branch. See Pipe Conversion Settings.

  7. Select a Solution Type. For the example, Perimeter is selected and 9" (20 mm) is specified for Inset.
  8. Click or to cycle through the proposed routing solutions, and select one that best fits your plan.
  9. If necessary, click Modify, and reposition the pipe segments when a there is no proposed solution that provides the desired layout.
  10. Click Finish Layout when you are satisfied with the routing of the piping for your cold water system.

    The piping is created for the system piping according to your specifications in the Pipe Conversion Settings dialog.

    The toilet and sink have now been assigned to a Domestic Cold Water System at the Piping level in the System Browser.

  11. Click Modify.
