Set the Work Plane of a View

Select a work plane by name, by picking a plane, or by picking a line in the plane you want to select.

  1. In the Work Plane dialog, under Specify a new Work Plane, select one of the following options:
    • Name - Choose and available work plane from the list, and click OK.
    • Pick a plane - Create a plane coincident to the selected plane. Select this option and click OK. Then move the cursor over the drawing area to highlight available work planes, and click to select the desired plane.
      Note: Use the listed keyboard shortcut to set the work plane with a pick without needing to open the Work plane dialog or access Pick a Plane directly from the ribbon.

    • Pick a line and use the work plane it was sketched in - Create a work plane that is coplaner with the work plane of the selected line. Select this option and click OK. Then move the cursor over the drawing area to highlight available lines, and click to select one.
    Note: In the Conceptual Design Environment, you pick a plane from the Placement Plane drop-down list on the Options Bar.
  2. If the selected plane is perpendicular to the current view, the Go to View dialog opens. Select a view, and click Open View.
