Modify instance properties to change a member's level constraints, structural role, association with physical counterpart, and more.
To change instance properties, select the element and change its properties on the Properties palette.
Name | Description |
---|---|
Constraints | |
Highest Associated Level |
Specifies the highest associated level of the selected analytical member or panel. You can choose a different value for this parameter only while creating an analytical member using the Top Point Definition command. |
Lowest Associated Level |
Specifies the lowest associated level of the selected analytical member or panel. You can choose a different value for this parameter only while creating an analytical member using the Top Point Definition command. |
Materials and Finishes | |
Structural Material |
Specifies a material for the element which may impact structural analysis. It can also control the hidden view display of structural elements. Concrete or Precast will display as hidden. Steel or Wood will be visible when another element is in front of it. Unassigned will not display if hidden by another element. See Change the Physical Properties of a Material |
Physical Material Asset |
Specifies the physical asset of the material if one is defined for the selected material. |
Structural | |
Structural Role |
Specifies the structural role of the element, selected from the drop-down list. |
Section Type |
Specifies the structural beam or column family type loaded in the project. The list of structural types is filtered based on the Structural Role. |
Section Shape |
Specifies the structural section shape family category of the element. The section shape creates additional dimensions and parameters for the element. |
Cross-Section Rotation |
Controls the orientation of the cross-section. The cross section representation is controlled by a sub-category of the analytical member called Cross Section and is shown in the model as its exact shape (if a Section Type is defined) at the mid-point of the analytical member. |
Analyze As |
Specifies element specific conditions used by external applications to determine appropriate analysis. Depending on the element, selection options include Hanger, Gravity, or Lateral analysis. |
Has Association |
Specifies whether the element has a counterpart in the project or not. A counterpart is an element belonging to an associated representation (physical or analytical) than the selected element. |
Releases / Member Forces | |
Start Release |
Specifies the end release condition: either Fixed, Pinned, Bending Moment or User Defined. User Defined allows you to enable/disable each of the end release conditions. |
Start Fx |
The translational release at the beginning of the member along the local x-axis. When selected the degree of freedom is released and the force is not available. |
Start Fy |
The translational release at the beginning of the member along the local y-axis. When selected the degree of freedom is released and the force is not available. |
Start Fz |
The translational release at the beginning of the member along the local z-axis. When selected the degree of freedom is released and the force is not available. |
Start Mx |
The rotational release at the beginning of the member along the local x-axis. When selected the degree of freedom is released and the moment is not available. |
Start My |
The rotational release at the beginning of the member along the local y-axis. When selected the degree of freedom is released and the moment is not available. |
Start Mz |
The rotational release at the beginning of the member along the local z-axis. When selected the degree of freedom is released and the moment is not available. |
End Release |
Specifies the end release condition: either Fixed, Pinned, Bending Moment or User Defined. User Defined allows you to enable/disable each of the end release conditions. |
End Fx |
The translational release at the end of the member along the local x-axis. When selected the degree of freedom is released and the force is not available. |
End Fy |
The translational release at the end of the member along the local y-axis. When selected the degree of freedom is released and the force is not available. |
End Fz |
The translational release at the end of the member along the local z-axis. When selected the degree of freedom is released and the force is not available. |
End Mx |
The rotational release at the end of the member along the local x-axis. When selected the degree of freedom is released and the moment is not available. |
End My |
The rotational release at the end of the member along the local y-axis. When selected the degree of freedom is released and the moment is not available. |
End Mz |
The rotational release at the end of the member along the local z-axis. When selected the degree of freedom is released and the moment is not available. |
Member Forces |
Specifies the internal forces at the ends of the analytical models of columns, beams, and braces. This data communicates load information for both documentation and connection fabrication. |
