Toposolid Split/Sub-Divide/Cut Fails

A warning displays when you attempt to Split/Sub-Divide/Cut a toposolid, and the geometry cannot be regenerated properly.

Warning: There are several similar error messages for this condition, such as:

• An error occurred during the sub-divide action. The sub-divide cannot be completed.
• An error occurred during the split action. The split cannot be completed.
• An error occurred during the excavate action. The excavation cannot be completed.

Issue: Revit must be able to create a reasonably accurate geometry at building scale. The application has implicit assumptions built in about both the scale and accuracy necessary to produce useful geometry. Boolean operations like those listed above must leave geometry that can produce useful geometry.
