Section and Callout tools create additional views of you model for detailing.

To document and detail your models, create section and callout views of your model. The tools to create new views of your model are on the View tab of the ribbon.
You can add section views from any view except 3d views. In this example, we will add a building section from the first floor plan view. Click the Section tool, then click the start and end positions where the section is cut. Use the controls at either end of the section marker to control the symbol family displayed, or use the arrow control to cut the section in the other direction.
The dashed lines indicate the extents of the section, and you control them with the grips or by selecting the crop region and moving the controls. Turn off the visibility of the crop region with the control on the View Control bar.
Add a callout to the section view to create a wall section. Click callout on the View tab of the ribbon. Use the Type Selector to set the callout as a wall section. This will help to sorting the views in the Project Browser. Click 2 points to define a rectangular shape for the callout. Use grips to adjust the annotation or boundary.
Notice that the callout view in the Project Browser is placed in the Wall section category. Also notice that the callout was created at a larger scale than the building section view the callout was placed in. Again, turn off the visibility of the crop region.
Now place another callout, but this time, before you place it, set the view type in the Type Selector to Detail. Click 2 points to define the boundary of the detail callout. Again it is added to a new section of the Project Browser and the scale is changed to a larger scale. Detail elements are added to these views to complete the construction details needed for your project.
One more way to place a callout for detailing is to place a callout, but on the contextual tab, select the Reference Other View setting. This allows you to place a linked callout that does not reference the model geometry. In this example, a drafting view of a typical roofing detail is selected for the linked view of the callout.
