License Borrowing

You can borrow a license from your network license server to use Autodesk® CFD for a specified time when your computer is not connected to the network. Your license is automatically returned to the license server at the end of the day on the return date you set when you borrow the license. You can also return a license early. The maximum borrowing period is six months.

Note: A limited number of licenses are available for borrowing. If you try to borrow a license and are notified that no licenses are available, see your network administrator for assistance.

To Borrow a License

Click Start & Learn > Product Information > Licensing.
In the License Information dialog, right click on a license feature, and click Borrow. Because Autodesk® CFD is licensed as a series of modules, you will likely need to borrow at least the following modules:

A CAD Connection license.
A Design Study Environment license. (This licenses the User Interface.)
A Solver license. The available solver modules depend on the purchased functional level, and may include Solver, Advanced, and Motion. Check out the license level appropriate for the type of simulation you plan to run.

In the calendar of the Borrow a License dialog, click the date when you want to return the license. This date must be within the valid date range set by your network administrator. The valid date range is displayed in this window.
Click Borrow License.
In the License Borrowed message, click OK. The license is borrowed, and you can now use Autodesk® CFD with your computer disconnected from the network.

To check the license expiration date

Click Start & Learn > Product Information > Licensing.
In the License Information dialog, right click on a borrowed license feature, and click Information.

To Return a License

Your borrowed network license is automatically returned to the network license server on the license expiration date. To return a license early, your computer must be connected to the network license server.

To return a borrowed license early

Click Start & Learn > Product Information > Licensing.
In the License Information dialog, click Return all licenses to return all borrowed licenses in a single step.
Alternatively, right click on a borrowed license feature, and click Return. Click Yes when prompted to verify the return.

After a borrowed license is returned, you can borrow a license again provided that your computer is connected to the network license server and a license is available.
