Learn about measured materials in VRED.
For additional information on measured materials, see the following:
Video captions: Open the Create/Convert tab in the Material Editor, and under Create Material, pick Measured Material. For the Measured Material, you require a texture in the BTF file format. Under Measurement, load a BTF texture. There are no shader settings at hand, except the spread of the exposure value. The material is depicted in Autodesk VRED as it was scanned. Assign the material, via drag and drop, to your geometry. Open the Texture settings. Within Texture Mode, select Triplanar. Change the X Repeat U and V settings to 0.1. Alter the exposure value of the material. There is no better approximation of realistic values than a Measurement Material. To achieve a realistic as possible display, it is recommended to pick Full Global Illumination as render mode. For demonstration purposes, the exposure value is set to 10.
