Sampling Quality - Stillframe

Learn about the Stillframe Sampling Quality when raytracing in VRED.

Video captions: Open Render Settings and select the Raytracing Quality tab. Select Precomputed + Shadows as the Interactive and Stillframe Illumination Mode. Activate Raytracing in the toolbar. Open the Lightsource Sampling Quality section. The quality setting for Stillframe allows optimization for the shadow quality per sample. Open the General Settings tab and switch Image Samples temporarily to the lowest setting of four. Activate Antialiasing in the toolbar. the image will be calculated in four iterative steps. This results in quite strong noise and shadows. Increase the Stillframe Lightsource Sampling Quality to two. The image will still be calculated in four steps but there will be a better shadow quality calculation per step. This results in a less noisy image. You should only optimize the Stillframe Lightsource Sampling Quality if you find there is still noise generated in the shadows after many samples. Otherwise, simply increase the image sample rate in your Antialiasing settings.
