Use the Connection panel to select and define the type of connecting plates that you want to use.
Dialog elements
- Number
- Keep the default number assigned to the connection, or enter a new one.
- Name
- Enter a new name for the splice connection.
- Symmetrical connection
- Sets the connection as symmetrical vertically.

Note: The right side of the connection is used as the reference side of the symmetry. If this option is selected, all the parameters applied to the right side of the connection are copied to the left side of the connection.
- Connecting plates
- Select a type of connection from the menu.
Note: If you selected the symmetrical connection option, the list of plates available from the Connecting plates menu is restricted to the ones that are symmetrical.
- Align upper bars edges
- Aligns the edges of the upper bars.
Note: This option is only available for beam-to-beam splice connections.
- Distance between bars
- Specify the S1 distance for the bars.
Note: This option is only available for beam-to-beam splice connections.
- Section
- Select a section from the list.
Note: If the connection is not part of a structure, you can change its profile.
- Material
- Select a material from the list.
- Web plates
- Specify if the web plates must be bolted or welded.
- Left/Lower plates
- Specify if the left/lower plates must be bolted or welded.
- Right/Upper plates
- Specify if the right/upper plates must be bolted or welded.
