Loads
The following options are available in the load table:
- Direction - the user decides which direction a load will be turned
- Coordinate system - local and global; for the local one, the load is directed perpendicular to a given segment; if the load is defined outside the assigned segment, the program will automatically set loads perpendicular to successive segments.
Diagrams
Diagrams of inclined beams are presented as for a straight beam. A beam is displayed horizontally which is a better way to present results.
Reinforcement
For inclined beams reinforcement due to bending and due to shear is generated; however, torsion reinforcement and Bielle reinforcing bars are not generated.
If a shape of a reinforcing bar is included in the database, then a bar of that shape will be generated in the beam. If a shape of a reinforcing bar is not included in the database (e.g. bent bars), then a new bar shape (an arbitrary bar) will be used.
Shear reinforcement is created for each segment independently and between the segments (see the drawing below) a constructional stirrup in the angle bisector is provided.
Bending reinforcement is calculated for each segment independently. It means that the spacing of bars of the longitudinal reinforcement may vary in successive segments.
Comments concerning generation of reinforcement for inclined beams
Currently:
- Torsion reinforcement is not generated
- Bielle reinforcement (for BAEL) is not generated
- Stirrups are always perpendicular to the beam edge
- Deflection is ignored
- Bent bars are not supported.
