You can restart calculations in order to modify calculation parameters or solving methods for an analysis type, and also to run calculations for a selection of cases only. This function is particularly useful in dynamic or nonlinear analysis of large structures due to their extensive solution times.
With the Calculation Restart option, new calculations are run on the selected cases only while the results for the other cases remain unchanged.
Any parameter may be modified before restarting calculations.
When restarting calculations, only the cases selected in the Calculation Restart dialog are calculated. The existing results of the other cases remain available and unchanged.
When load cases do not reach convergence during a nonlinear analysis, you can use the Calculation Restart option to modify calculation parameters such as the number of load increments or a criterion to stop the analysis, and then restart the calculation for a selection of cases only.
When the calculated number of eigenvibration modes does not satisfy the criterion of the assumed mass participation, the complete load is not showed in the seismic analysis. Use the restart option to calculate successive eigenvalues retaining the vibration modes calculated earlier.
The calculation of eigenmodes for the modal analysis consists of calculations of a greater number of eigenmodes without repeating the calculations of the already existing modes.
Select the Calculation restart - calculations of additional modes option from the Modal analysis Parameters dialog, determine the requested number of modes (all other parameters are inaccessible). Specify a full number of requested modes, not just the number of modes to be additionally calculated. The option for additional calculation of eigenmodes currently uses the block subspace iteration method. The method of solving the modal analysis changes if existing modes have been calculated using a different method.
