Use this option to determine the fire resistance parameters of the timber member type. Access the option by clicking the Fire button in the Member Definition - Parameters dialog. The following dialog displays:
The following member parameters are defined:
- Calculation method (simplified, limited resistance and rigidity)
- Burning velocity
- Time of required fire resistance
- Surface protection; total time of fire calculation = time of required fire resistance - surface protection; if the time of surface protection is greater or equal to the time of required fire resistance, then the total time is equal or less than zero; the section is entirely protected against fire
- Additional protection of section sides (section sides which have such protections should be indicated)
- If a timber section is a double section, verification that the space between parts of this section is protected over the whole beam/column length.
Note: To calculate fire impact, select the Calculations recognizing the possibility of fire impact option in the Configuration dialog.
