These settings apply across many different surface types. Learn them once and apply many times to get a head start on surfacing in Alias.
Skin builds a straight-line surface between two curves, or a blended surface between many. Freeform Blend does the same with added control over continuity.
To extrude a surface in a direction (rather than along a curve) use the MS Draft tool. Options can be used to add a draft angle for molding or add a crown shape. The Extrude tool uses a curve for the extrusion direction and shape.
Revolve a profile around an axis or vector in Freeform mode for a classic CAD revoved surface. Use the side glass option to create automotive glazing.
The Surface Fillet tool builds controlled blends between primary surfaces of a design. Round is used for ‘finishing off’ a sharp edged model with detail fillets.
The Profile tool allows for combinations of curves and shapes with added control for orientation. Extrude and Rail tools can be used for simple sweeps.
Creating rolled edge finishes with a fillet and a flange surface.
