Configuration settings are stored in multiple files. To distribute configuration settings to other computers, you must copy all of these files.
Configuration settings are saved in:
- the Windows registry
- drawing templates
- support files
To distribute configuration settings to other computers, port all configuration settings.
Copying Windows Settings
You can export configuration settings stored in the Windows registry to a .cfg file using the Export feature in the AM:Preferences tab of the Options dialog box. You can import the .cfg file on another computer, copying the settings to the Windows registry of that computer.
Copying Template Files
Most configuration settings are stored in drawing template files (*.dwt). In the Options dialog box and other dialog boxes these settings are indicated by displaying the 
icon next to the setting. Templates are stored in a user-specific area on your hard disk. You can copy templates from your computer to the user-specific areas of another user’s computer. Alternatively, you can store the templates in a common location shared by all users and configure AutoCAD Mechanical toolset to use template files from that location.
Copying Support Files
Support files are files that a template refers to at draw time. Drawings containing the blocks for a custom parts list and drawing border files are examples of support files. Support files are distributed among several folders with all these folders nested under a single main folder. If you are distributing support files, we recommend distributing the content of the main folder. Unlike with templates, it is not possible to use support files from a common location shared by all users.
