Right-click Menu Items

Set Current

Sets the selected BOM as the current BOM and displays its contents within the BOM panel.

Zoom to

Temporarily hides the BOM dialog box and zooms to the geometry associated with the BOM. If the BOM is a Border BOM, this menu option zooms to the corresponding border. If the BOM is an Assembly BOM, it zooms to the corresponding component.

Highlight

Temporarily hides the BOM dialog box and highlights to the geometry associated with the BOM. If the BOM is a Border BOM, this menu option highlights to the corresponding border. If the BOM is an Assembly BOM, it highlights all the views of the corresponding component.

Rename

Places the cursor within the name of the BOM, enabling you to rename it.

Delete

Deletes the selected BOM.

Toolbar

View drop-down

Enables you to select between the expanded view and structured view. The drop-down menu is not visible if the current drafting standard is GOST.

Expanded View

Sets the view to the expanded view. In the expanded view, BOM items correspond to parts. Parts from different assemblies are summed together (excluding parts from assemblies inserted from an xref).

Structured View

Sets the view to the structured view. In the structured view, parts are collected under the assemblies they belong to and are summed only within those assemblies.

View options

Displays the View Options dialog box, which enables you to specify how to display the structured view.

Show/Hide drop-down

Formula bar

Displays an area below the toolbar (the formula bar), to enable you to enter and edit formulas. A check mark next to the menu item indicates that the formula bar is displayed.

Results bar

Displays a row at the bottom of the list of BOM items (known as the results bar) to show the totals of the properties configured to be summed. A check mark next to the menu item indicates that the results bar is displayed.

Expands/Collapses all assemblies in the BOM.

Inserts a column to the left of the current selection in the list of BOM items.

Zooms to the object associated with the selected row.

If the selected row is associated with many instances of the object, the program prompts you to step through each instance, one by one. When you return to the BOM dialog box, the program restores the drawing area to its original state.

Highlights the object associated with the selected row.

If the selected row is associated with many instances of the object, the program prompts you to step through each instance, one by one. When you return to the BOM dialog box, the program restores the drawing area to its original state.

Insert column drop-down

Insert column left

Inserts a column to the left of the current selection in the list of BOM items.

Insert column right

Inserts a column to the right of the current selection in the list of BOM items.

Deletes the selected column.

Adds a part that was previously removed from the BOM.

Adds a row to the bottom of the BOM. Rows inserted in this manner are user-defined items and do not represent any geometry in the drawing area.

Inserts a row above the current selection. Rows inserted in this manner are user-defined items and do not represent any geometry in the drawing area.

Insert item drop-down

Insert item above

Inserts a row above the current selection. Rows inserted in this manner are user-defined items and do not represent any geometry in the drawing area.

Insert item below

Inserts a row below the current selection. Rows inserted in this manner are user-defined items and do not represent any geometry in the drawing area.

Deletes the selected row. If there are any rows nested below this row, they are deleted as well.

Merges two or more selected rows. Only rows that have identical properties can be merged.

You typically merge rows when the system shows the same part as two separate entries in the BOM.

Splits a row that has a quantity greater than 1 into two separate rows. This operation is not applicable to mechanical structure components. When you click this button, a prompt enables you to select the part references to move to a new row.

You typically use this option to split rows that you merged previously.

Displays the Sort dialog box, which provides various options to sort the items in the BOM.

Creates a part reference with data from the selected row.

The dialog box hides to enable you to place the part reference in the drawing area. This option is available only when you select a row containing a user-defined item. A user-defined item is a row that does not correspond to any geometry in the drawing area.

Note: This option is not available for assembly BOMs. The program implements this restriction to prevent part references from getting mixed with mechanical structure.

Attaches the BOM of another drawing to the selected Part Reference. The Part Reference is attached as an xref. Changes you make to the attached BOM in the source drawing are automatically reflected in the current drawing.

Removes overrides from the current selection and restores their default values. This button is available only when overrides exist within the current selection.

Sets the values for a range of cells in a column.

Creates a parts list based on the current BOM.

Creates balloons based on the current BOM.

Formula Bar

Provides a space to enter and edit formulas.

The formula bar refers to the area directly below the toolbar and is visible only if you select Formula bar, in the Show/Hide drop-down menu.

Cancels edits made on the formula bar.

Saves the edits made on the formula bar.

Launches the expression builder, which assists you to create a formula.

List of BOM items

Displays a list of BOM items.

If you override the default value of a cell, by specifying a value manually, AutoCAD Mechanical toolset highlights that cell in blue. When you move the mouse over an overridden cell, a tooltip shows the default value of the cell.

You can override the QTY component property and any other component property that uses a formula to display their values. You can override any component property of a top-level xref item. BOMs attached to Part References are also considered xref items.

You can remove overrides and restore the default value of a cell by right-clicking it and selecting Remove overrides.
