When you assign a layer to a mechanical object, AutoCAD Mechanical toolset commands use that layer when creating an instance of that object.
- At the Command prompt, enter AMOPTIONS.
- Click the AM:Standards tab.
- In the Standard Elements list, double-click the root node (the standard name). The Standard Settings dialog box appears.
- In the Object properties section, click Settings. The Object Property Settings dialog box appears.
Note: The Settings button is available only if the Let AutoCAD Mechanical toolset manage object properties check box is selected.
- In the Category list, select the category corresponding to the object you want to modify.
Note: The Object you want to modify may be listed in more than one category.
- In the row corresponding to the object you want to modify, click in the Layer column. The Select Layer dialog box appears.
- Select a layer.
- To select an existing layer or layer definition, select it and click OK.
- To create a layer definition and assign it to the object:
- Click .
- In the Name column, specify a name for the new layer definition.
- Click OK.
If the object you are assigning the layer to belongs to multiple categories, a message showing the affected objects appears. Click Change Property.
- Click OK until all dialog boxes close.
