To Create an Offset Section View (AutoCAD Mechanical Toolset)

You can create section views from any existing Inventor linked drawing view.

Note: Inventor Link is available only on 64-bit systems, and it is not installed by default.

Before you begin, at least the base view of the part must have been created.

1. Click Home tabDraw panelPolyline. Find
2. Draw a cut line on the part in the parent view. The first line segment of the cut line must start outside the part and end inside. Intermediate line segments must start and end inside the part. The last line segment must start inside the part and end outside. Offset cut-line segments can change direction in 90-degree increments only.
3. Choose the Drawing tab New View.
4. In the Create Drawing View dialog box,
   • View Type: Ortho
   • Choose the Section tab.
   • Type: Offset
   • Choose OK.
5. Select the parent view.
6. Specify a location for the orthogonal view, and then press ENTER.
7. Select the cut line. The offset section view is displayed.
