About Importing Some Settings Only (AutoCAD Mechanical Toolset)

AMSETUPDWG supports a custom import mode, which enables you to import one or more of the following, without importing anything else.

In this mode, AMSETUPDWG can only update the settings of a standard if it is loaded in the current drawing. In the current drawing, the standard you are importing from must be in the loaded state. For example, if you are importing the ISO symbol library, the ISO standard must be loaded in the current drawing. For this reason, if you are importing using the Setup Drawing Wizard, only those standards that are loaded in both the current drawing and the template are displayed.

AMSETUPDWG performs additional checks on custom standards to verify whether the base standards match. AMSETUPDWG does not allow you to patch a custom standard if it detects a base standard mismatch.

If you are importing symbol libraries, AMSETUPDWG prompts you to specify the symbols you are importing the library for. You also specify if you want to overwrite, replace, or append to the library, if it exists. If you choose Replace, AMSETUPDWG removes the symbol library for the selected standard (and symbol) and replaces it with the imported symbol library. If you choose to overwrite, and AMSETUPDWG detects duplicate names, it replaces the existing symbol with the one you are importing. If you choose to append, and AMSETUPDWG detects duplicate names, it automatically renames the symbol you are importing. As a result, you run the risk of having duplicate symbol library items with different names, which you have to clean up manually. We recommend that you use the Replace or Overwrite options when importing symbol libraries with AMSETUPDWG.

Some symbols support more than one revision for a given standard. Each revision has its own symbol library. When you select such a symbol type for symbol library import, AMSETUPDWG imports symbol libraries for all revisions of that standard.
