You can create a reference to an existing corridor in a data shortcut. The corridor reference is a lightweight read-only copy of the original, but it gives you access to corridor data. Before you create a corridor reference in the current drawing, the data shortcut must exist in the current project collection on the Toolspace Prospector tab.
When a corridor is referenced, the corridor baselines are treated as follows:
- Alignment/profile baselines are converted to alignment/profile references in the referenced drawing. Autodesk Civil 3D automatically looks for the correct baseline shortcuts in the source drawing when creating the corridor reference. These alignment/profile references are displayed in Prospector.
- Feature line baselines are treated as alignment/profile references in the referenced drawing, but do not appear in Prospector. For example, when you select the baseline of the referenced corridor, the Alignment contextual ribbon tab is displayed.
Note:
Corridor references cannot be used with the Export to 3ds Max command. Instead, use the Export to 3ds Max command from the corridor source drawing.
To create a reference to a data shortcut corridor
- In Toolspace, on the Prospector tab, ensure that the correct project folder is identified on the Data Shortcuts node.
- Expand the
Data Shortcuts
Corridors collection.
- Right-click the desired corridor, and then click
Create Reference,
or drag and drop the corridor into the current drawing.
The Create Corridor Reference dialog box is displayed, in which you can optionally change the properties of the reference corridor, as described in the following steps.
- Enter a
Name for the corridor.
Note: To name the corridor, click its default name. Enter a new name, or use the name template.
- Specify a Corridor Style or accept the default style.
- Click
to select a layer.
Note: If you do not select a layer, the corridor is placed on the current layer. - Click
OK to create the corridor reference.
References to the corridor's alignment and profile baselines are also created.
If the baselines are comprised of alignments and profiles, the alignment names are displayed under the Alignments collection in the Prospector tree with a
next to them. Expand an alignment name and the
Profiles collection to view the profile references.
Note: When you create data shortcuts and references from objects that are stored in subfolders, the subfolder structure is replicated in the data shortcut project. This also applies to the alignment and profile baselines for a data shortcut corridor.
