Surfaces Command Reference

The following table lists the surface-related Autodesk Civil 3D commands and briefly describes their functionality.

Commands listed below that are preceded by a minus sign (-) are configured so that majority of the command interaction occurs at the command line.

AddContourLabeling	Adds multiple surface contour labels at points of intersection with contour label line
AddContourLabelingGroup	Adds multiple surface contour labels at a set interval
AddContourLabelingSingle	Adds a single surface contour label
AddEarthwork	Inserts labels in a grid and tables that contain information about the volume of the earthwork between two TIN surfaces
AddSpotElevLabelsOnGrid	Adds a spot elevation label on grid
AddSurfaceBoundaries	Adds a boundary to an existing surface
AddSurfaceBreaklines	Adds a breakline to an existing surface

AllSurfaceLODLow	Specifies that all surfaces in the drawing are set to a reduced level of detail.
AllSurfaceLODHigh	Specifies that all surfaces in the drawing are set to a high level of detail.
BreaklineTool	Identifies and fixes any intersecting breaklines in a drawing, survey figure, or survey database
CatchmentArea	Displays catchment regions and calculates the area of catchment regions
ChangeSurfaceStyle	Specifies the surface style to use for a selected surface. Tip: After running this command and selecting a surface, press F2 to open the text window.
CheckForContourProblems	Identifies problems with contours
CreateCropSurface	Creates a surface that is a copy of the selected polygonal area of another surface
CreateSurface -CreateSurface	Creates a TIN or grid terrain or volume surface
CreateSurfaceComposite -CreateSurfaceComposite	Calculates a composite volume between two surfaces
CreateSurfaceFromGIS	Imports data from a GIS datastore to create an Autodesk Civil 3D surface
CreateSurfaceFromPointCloud	Creates a TIN surface from points within RCS format point cloud scan files and RCP format point cloud project files
CreateSurfaceFromTIN	Creates a TIN surface from a TIN data file

RebuildSurface	Rebuilds a surface
ReportSurfaceVolume	Displays composite volume information for two surfaces
SimplifySurface -SimplifySurface	Simplifies a surface by removing points
SmoothSurface	Smooths the surface
StageStorage	Calculates incremental and cumulative volumes of a basin from a surface, using either a surface or polylines to define the basin

VolumesDashboard	Calculates cut, fill, and net volumes for volume surfaces and bounded areas within those surfaces
