Indicates a feature suggested and voted up by users on the Flame Feedback portal.

Multiple user-requested improvements have been implemented.

Add Marker

The Marker button, available in the Player, Fullscreen Player, Source-Sequence view, Triptych Player, and Conform Player, has been modified to offer options to select:

  • A colour preset.
  • Whether the button will add a Marker or a Segment Marker.
  • Whether the Marker will cover the entire span of a timeline segment by default or not.

Use the Add Full Length Marker and Add Full Length Segment Marker keyboard shortcuts to add markers that cover the full length of the segment on the bottom track or of the timeline segment itself, respectively. The keyboard shortcuts are assigned to the following keystrokes:

  • Add Full Length Marker
    • Flame and Lustre: Command + \
    • Smoke Classic: Shift + Command + Right Alt
    • Smoke (FCP 7): Command + M
  • Add Full Length Segment Marker
    • Flame and Lustre: Shift + Command + \
    • Smoke Classic: Shift + Command + Right Ctrl
    • Smoke (FCP 7): Ctrl + Command + M

The Add Marker dialog window offers the option to set a Comment and a Colour, in addition to the previously existing option to set a Name.

When the Default Marker Name and Default Segment Marker Name strings are empty in the Timeline Preferences, the text in the Name's Pattern field of the Add Marker dialog window is highlighted for easy replacement of the default "Marker #" string with your own text.

The addition of a Marker can be canceled using the Cancel button in the Add Marker dialog window.

The Add Marker dialog window can be bypassed by holding the Auto Confirm keyboard shortcut while clicking the Marker button in the Player. The keyboard shortcut is assigned to Alt by default in all keyboard shortcuts profiles.

For more information, see: Adding Markers.

Timeline

The Copy and Paste Markers options have been added to the Marker and Positioner context menus, respectively.

The location of a Marker can be locked using the Lock Location option available in the Marker's context menu (Timeline and Markers view) and from the Marker's view Gear menu. The lock only affects the location of the Marker. All other attributes can be modified and operations such as delete can still be performed.

Segments Markers can be copied from one track to another using the Copy Segment Markers to Track and Copy Selected Segment Markers to Track options available in a Track's context menu.

Segment Markers can be synced between Connected Segments. All Segments Markers are copied to all connected segments when the Sync Connected Segments operation is performed while the Copy Markers on Sync option is enabled in the Timeline Preferences. Selected Segments Markers can be synced using the Sync Connected Segment Markers option in the Segment Marker's context menu. This option must be used when Copy Markers on Sync is disabled.

The Marker Index token is available for the Name and Comment text fields of a Marker.

  • The token returns the index, starting at 1, of a marker on a clip (markers) or segment (segment marker).
  • The token syntax is <marker>.
  • By default, the padding is set to 4 characters. This can be modified by adding the desired amount of # characters to the token.

Markers View

Use the Export Markers function from the Markers View's Gear menu to export the content of the Markers list in an XML or CSV file.

Use the Import Markers function from the Markers View's Gear menu to append the content of an XML or CSV file into the Markers list, or to replace it.

Timeline segments associated to Markers can be selected from the Markers view using the Select Segments associated to Selected Markers and Select Segments associated to All Markers options.

The location of Markers can be modified from the Markers view by dragging in a cell or clicking inside it to open the Calculator. It is not possible to modify the location of multiple Markers at once.
