Morph (What's New in 2025.2)
Indicates a feature suggested and voted up by users on the Flame Feedback portal.
Use the Morph tool to morph together frames from two clips. This tool is useful to ease a transition or to apply a morphing effect.
Highlights include:
- Available as a Batch node, a Timeline FX, and a Transition.
- Motion Vectors and Machine Learning frame interpolation.
- Set a range for the morphing effect in the Batch node.
- The Freeze buttons, which can be used to morph only between frames that have been set as the First and/or Last Frames.
Conform
Transitions from Avid and DaVinci Resolve are conformed to a Morph transition in Flame.
Application | Transition | Exchange Format | Result in Flame |
---|---|---|---|
Avid | Fluid Morph | AAF | Morph Transition. Avid's Still and Stream options are conformed using the Freeze buttons. |
DaVinci Resolve | Smooth Cut | AAF | Cut. |
DaVinci Resolve | Smooth Cut | XML | Morph Transition. |
Adobe Premiere Pro | MorphCut | AAF | Dissolve. |
Adobe Premiere Pro | MorphCut | XML | Dissolve. |
Workflow
The playback and scrubbing of unrendered frames is more interactive in the Timeline environment due to the Player option available in the Morph Preferences. By default, scrubbing and playback show a dissolve effect instead of the result of the Morph node.
The options are:
Select | To |
---|---|
Result on Scrub / Play | Always display the result of the Morph node. |
Dissolve on Scrub | Display a dissolve instead of the Morph node's result while scrubbing in a clip. |
Dissolve on Play | Display a dissolve instead of the Morph node's result while you are playing back a clip. |
Dissolve on Scrub / Play | Display a dissolve while you are scrubbing or playing back a clip. |
Note: When one of Dissolve on Scrub, Dissolve on Play, or Dissolve on Scrub / Play is selected, frames are not rendered while scrubbing or playing back even if the Player's Cache on Playback option is enabled.
