Tangent Panels Support (What's New in 2025)

In previous versions, every time you created a user profile it also created a Tangent Panel folder using the mapping of the current Flame Family product version. One of the drawbacks of this approach was that using a user profile from a legacy version would show the legacy mapping. Since the concept of user profiles is removed in the 2025 version, the following changes have been made:

  • No Tangent mapping files are created on a user basis; Flame Family applications always use the mapping of the version you are using, preventing confusion for end users using multiple versions.
  • Custom mappings are still managed on a user basis from the Tangent Mapper application.

Customizing Tangent Panels Mapping

It is possible to modify the Tangent Panels Mapping using the Tangent Mapper application. When doing so, any changes are saved in your user home folder and are automatically recalled when you start the application.

Note: Creating a custom mapping uses the current mapping of the version of Flame Family application that you are running. Using a custom mapping might prevent having access to future capabilities regarding Tangent mapping. It is always possible, from the Tangent Mapper, to use the default mapping provided by the Flame Family applications.

How to customize Tangent Panels Mapping:

  1. Start the Tangent Mapper application while a Flame Family application is running.
  • You should see Autodesk Flame - Default Controls displayed at the top of the Tangent Mapper application and actual mapping on the user interface of the mapper.
  1. Modify the mapping to your liking.
  2. From the File menu, select the Save as... option and provide a name for your mapping.
  • The name of the new mapping is now visible at the top of the Tangent Mapper.
  1. The next time you will start any version of the application, your custom mapping will be automatically selected.

You can always go back to the default mapping with the following steps:

  1. From the File menu, select the Manage Control Maps... option.
  2. Select the Default Controls map (located at the top of the control map section) and press Select. The default mapping is now the current mapping.

The custom mappings are saved in your home folder at these locations:

  • Linux: /home/<user name>/Tangent/Hub/Autodesk_<product name>
  • macOS: /Users/<user name>/Library/Application Support/Tangent/Hub/Autodesk_<product name>

Tangent Hub Update

Flame Family 2025 supports the Tangent Hub 1.8.7. This update improves the Tangent Mapper Warp Engine workflow by providing ways to record scripts.

  • The updated Tangent Hub for Linux is installed with Preview 196.
  • macOS users can download and install Tangent Hub 1.8.7 from the Tangent web site.
