Tools Updates (What's New in 2025)

Indicates a feature suggested and voted up by users on the Flame Feedback portal.

2D Histogram

The output socket is now blue and named OutMatte indicating it is outputting a matte clip.

Auto Matte

The output socket is now blue and named OutMatte indicating it is outputting a matte clip.

Clamp

The following changes have been made to the Clamp node:

  • The Clamp and Neg Clamp options are replaced with:
    • Maximum Clamp and Minimum Clamp buttons that allow to clamp below a defined value, above a defined value, or both.
    • Two numeric fields to set the minimum and maximum values. The values can be animated and their corresponding max and min channels are available in the Animation editor.
  • The Python API has been adjusted so the four new controls are available, replacing the existing out_range attribute.

The Indicators under the node inside the Schematic view now show the Minimum and Maximum clamp values rather than the mode. An asterisk ( * ) is displayed when the Minimum Clamp or Maximum Clamp buttons are disabled.

Colour Correct

Some settings available in the Curves tab have been changed:

  • Hide or show the colour sampling indicators with the new Show Sampler Colours option in the Gear menu.
  • Select the curves with buttons instead of a drop-down button. You can select multiple curves with the Add to Selection keyboard shortcut.
  • More Framing and Reset options are available.

Colour Source

An STMap containing no transformation values can be generated using the new STMap option.

  • The Tagged Colour Space is automatically set to UV and cannot be modified.
  • The bit depth is automatically set to 32-bit fp, but this value can be modified.

Colour Warper

The Prop button applies the modifications to a Selective's Blur X & Y settings proportionally.

Keyboard Shortcuts can be used to select the Selective, Matte, and Result outputs. The following keyboard shortcuts are the defaults in all shortcuts profiles:

  • 2: Set Output to Selective
  • 3: Set Output to Matte
  • 4: Set Output to Result The shortcuts are available on the Tangent Panels but are not assigned by default.

Keyer Nodes

The Master Keyer, Keyer 3D, Keyer Channel, Keyer HLS, Keyer Luma, Keyer RGB, Keyer RGBCMYL, and Keyer YUV nodes now have a second output socket that outputs the inverse of the OutMatte socket.

  • The F4 keyboard shortcut toggles between the OutMatte and Inverse OutMatte.
  • The name of the first output has been renamed from Result to OutMatte.

Matte Edge

The output socket is now blue and named OutMatte indicating it is outputting a matte clip.

Modular Keyer

The following settings previously available only in Batch Batch Prefs Preferences are now located in Preferences User Batch & BFX → Schematic Display and applied to the Modular Keyer schematic:

  • Node Information option
  • Show Elbow Name
  • Compass Default Colour

Pybox

The location of Pybox installed from third party developers like FilmLight's BLG For Flame has been changed from /opt/Autodesk/presets/<version>/pybox/presets to /opt/Autodesk/presets/<version>/pybox.

Regrain

Some settings available in the Curves widget have been changed:

  • More options are available for the Histogram display.
  • Select the curves with buttons instead of a drop-down button. You can select multiple curves with the Add to Selection keyboard shortcut.
  • More Framing and Reset options are available.

Selective

The Position X and Position Y settings of the widget used to isolate a selected Human Body or Human Head are available in the user interface, under the Isolation section.

Subtitle

The secondary font used to display characters that are not available in the Primary font can be modified in Preferences User Tools & TL FX Subtitle.

  • The font selection is project-based.
  • The B, I, U buttons are not available. The only way to set these attributes, when applicable, is by using the tags in the text field of the Subtitle tool.
