User Management (What's New in 2025)

Indicates a feature suggested and voted up by users on the Flame Feedback portal.

The whole concept of Flame User Profiles no longer exists.

User-based settings (Preferences, Keyboard Shortcuts, Presets, etc.) are stored within the OS user files at the following locations:

  • Linux: /home/<user name>/flame/
  • macOS: /Users/<user name>/Library/Preferences/Autodesk/flame/

Other highlights include:

  • Name and Nickname used for the name fields with tokens can still be set from the application in Preferences User User Tokens or from the User tab in the Flame Setup application.
  • The User Profile section has been removed from the startup screen.
  • The Default Shortcut Profile option has been removed from the Setup application.
  • No changes have been made to the user profiles in Lustre. Multiple user profiles can be created and all files are located in /opt/Autodesk/user/grading/<user name>.
  • The User settings stored in the OS user files can be exported and imported.
  • The keyboard shortcuts profile can be selected from the Keyboard Shortcut Editor, and changed within a session.
    • Custom shortcuts are still associated to the selected profile, meaning that if you want to use a shortcut in multiple profiles you need to set it multiple times.
    • The Cycle Keyboard Shortcuts Profile keyboard shortcut can be used to cycle through the different profiles.
    • The flame.users.current_user.shortcuts_profile attribute can be used to change the profile in the Python API.

From the 2025 version onwards, a single set of files is used for all versions of the applications.
