Retaining Ring Groove Dialog Box

Use this dialog box to enter parameters for the retaining ring feature in Shaft Component Generator.

Access

Ribbon: Design tab Power Transmission panel Shaft. On the Design tab, select Cylinder in the tree control. In the Section features drop-down menu, select Add Retaining Ring .

Dimensions

Enables Retaining Ring Groove dimensions editing.

Name

Displays the name of the parameter. Name of the dimension is used in the Calculation tab and in the Results pane. Column is not editable.

Size

Select the Size field to insert a value.

Select Measure from the context menu to measure dimension in the Autodesk Inventor window.

Select List Parameters to display list with parameters. Select to select the parameter and insert the value to the Size edit field.

Select Values from the context menu to see the list of recommended dimensions.

Description

Displays the description of the parameter. Name of the dimension is used in the Calculation tab and in the Results pane. Column is not editable.

Position

Use the drop-down menu to specify how the retaining ring position is measured within the shaft section.

Use the second drop-down menu to select a retaining ring from the Content Center.

Note: To insert standard Retaining Ring from Content Center you must be connected to Content Center. When selecting a component from Content Center, deselect the Custom check box.

Measure from first edge

Select to measure the retaining ring position from the left edge of the section.

Measure from second edge

Select to measure the retaining ring position from the right edge of the section.

Custom

deselect the check box to insert your own values.

Note: You cannot edit values that are dimmed. They are calculated automatically.

Preview

Displays schematic image of the retaining ring.
