Pack and Go Reference

Packages an Autodesk Inventor file and all of its referenced files under a single location.

Use Pack and Go to archive a file structure, copy a complete set of files while retaining links to referenced files, or isolate a group of files for design experimentation.

The style library specified in a project is automatically included in the target directory created by Pack and Go.

Access:

From Microsoft Windows Explorer, select an Autodesk Inventor file (.iam, .ipt, .idw, .dwg ( Autodesk Inventor Drawing), .ipn), right-click, and then select Pack and Go.

From a Design Assistant session initiated outside Autodesk Inventor, select an Autodesk Inventor file (.iam, .ipt, .idw, .dwg ( Autodesk Inventor Drawing), .ipn) in the browser, right-click, and then select Pack and Go.

In Autodesk Inventor, click File Save As Pack and Go.

Source File

Displays the path and the file name of the file to package.

Destination Folder

Specifies the destination for the packaged files. Click Browse to find the appropriate destination, or enter the path and folder name. If the folder does not exist, a prompt to create the folder is displayed.

Find referenced files

Sets the path for the search.

Project File Defaults to the active project file. The Browse command can be used to search for a different project file.

Copy to Single Path There are two Search Now commands in the dialog box in different groups. The one in the Find Referenced Files group begins a search for files that are referenced from the selected file. The one in the Search for Referencing Files Group begins a search for files that reference the selected file and its transitively referenced files. The same file is not displayed in search results more than once.

Options

Sets the file options for the packaged files. Click to select the desired options.

Copy to Single Path Copies the referenced files to a single folder with the packaged file. Referenced files that reside in paths external to the packaged file are copied to the same folder as the one containing the packaged file.

Note: If any packaged files have the same file name, only one of the files can be placed at the destination folder\file name. This results in references to the files that were not copied being redirected to the one that was successfully copied.

Keep Folder Hierarchy Builds a folder hierarchy under the destination folder that preserves the folder hierarchy under the original project locations, and copies the selected file and its referenced and referencing files to the appropriate subfolders.

Model Files Only Copies only Autodesk Inventor model files (.iam, .ipt, .idw, .dwg ( Autodesk Inventor Drawing), .ipn) to the destination folder. Referenced files such as spreadsheets and text files are not copied.

Include Linked Files Copies all referenced files to the destination folder, including spreadsheets, text files, and other files.

Skip Libraries When selected, library files are not copied with the packaged file. The new project file references the original library locations. The library search paths are made absolute if they were originally relative.

Collect workgroups When selected, collects workgroups and the workspace into a single root folder.

When not selected, a subfolder is named for each non-nested Workspace, Local or Workgroup Search Path, and Library of the original project file from which a source file is copied. These are located under subfolders named Workspace, Locals, Workgroups, or Libraries, respectively, directly under the destination folder.

Make sure that project file location names conform to folder name rules.

Skip Styles When selected, Styles are not copied with the packaged file.

Skip Templates When selected, Templates are not copied with the packaged file.

Total Files

Displays the total number of files to package.

Source File

Displays the path and the file name of the file to package.

Disk Space Required

Displays the disk space needed on destination media. Make sure there is enough space at the destination before starting the packaging operation.

Start

Begins the packaging.

Progress

Displays the progress of the packaging.

Search for referencing files

Sets the path for referencing files.

Search project file locations Searches for referencing files in the workspaces, workgroups, and library locations specified in the project file.

Search folder Searches for referencing files in the folder identified by the path in the field immediately below this option.

Include Subfolders Searches the selected folder and all subfolders for referencing files.

Files Found

Displays the list of files to be packaged.

Note: Pack and Go creates a log file of the operation and places it in the same directory as the packaged file. See the log file for information about the packaging operation and the names and source paths of all referenced files.

The log file is overwritten each time you package an Autodesk Inventor file to the same destination.
