Calculate fillet weld joints with connection plane load
On the ribbon, click
Environments tab
Convert panel
Fillet Weld Calculator (Plane)
.
Click
More in the Calculation tab and select the calculation method.
On the Calculation tab, enter input parameters.
If desired, and if the appropriate Weld Form is selected, switch to the Fatigue Calculation tab to enter values for fatigue calculation.
Click Calculate to calculate the joint. Result values are displayed in the Results area on the right side of the Calculation tab.
Click OK to insert weld calculation into
Autodesk Inventor
.
These procedures create examples using the sample specifications:
Static Calculation
Start the Fillet Weld (Connection Plane Load) Calculator.
On the Calculation tab:
Set the Standard Calculation procedure Method from the Calculation of Statically Loaded Weld area.
Select the Weld Form:
.
Click the Enables/disables fatigue calculation icon.
Specify Input Loads:
.
Set the Bending Force to 2000 N.
Measure the Force Arm from assembly - 100 mm.
Set the Weld Height to 5 mm.
Set the Weld Radius to 75 mm.
Select the Weld Material - Structural Steel A572-Grade42.
Set the Safety Factor to 2.5.
Click Calculate. See the results in the Results area.
Click OK.
Fatigue Calculation
Start the Fillet Weld (Connection Plane Load) Calculator.
On the Calculation tab, enter and select values from previous example.
Switch to the Fatigue Calculation tab:
Specify the type of Bending force - fluctuated.
Set the upper value of the Bending force to 6000.
In the Fatigue Strength Calculation Method area, select Modified Goodman Method.
Set the Dynamic Stroke Factor to 1.25 - equal to medium shocks.
Set the Basic Endurance Limit of Material to 200 MPa.
Set the Reliability Factor to 1.0.
Click Calculate. See the results in the Results area.
Click OK.
