Install and Configure a Shared Environment with the Vault Server
STEP 1 Install the Remote Content Center libraries and Autodesk Vault server on a shared remote server
Install the Autodesk Vault server from the Autodesk Vault server media. Follow the instructions on the Autodesk Vault server media for installing the Remote Content Center libraries.
- For installation details, refer to the Autodesk Vault Installation Help located on the Autodesk Vault Server media.
Install Autodesk Inventor on the local computers from the Autodesk Inventor media.
Important: Do not install Content Center Libraries for Desktop Content. The format of the libraries is different for the shared (Vault server) and single (Desktop Content). The Desktop Content libraries are not compatible in a shared Vault environment.
Under Select Content Center Access Options, select Autodesk Vault Server.
Note: You can install Content Center libraries for Desktop Content in a shared network Desktop Content folder. Then switch between Desktop Content and Autodesk Vault server in Application Options

In the Project dialog box, click Folder Options. Then specify a path to the root folder for the Content Center library files used by the current project.
Content Center library files are copied to this location when you access and edit a standard part.
If you want each user to receive the most recent library content automatically, specify the path to the network location on each local machine.
Click Save.
STEP 4 Create accounts for Content Center Editors and Administrators
- In Autodesk data management server console, create user accounts for anyone who requires permissions. Communicate user account information and the login procedure to each member in the team.
