Create an Attribute Editor template for a node type

To create a template for a node type

  1. Create your template using an XML or plain text editor of your choice. See Parts of an Attribute Editor template.
Tip: You can also use the Attribute Editor Template Builder to create custom templates. Download this Bonus Tool online at http://area.autodesk.com/bonus_tools, or select Help > Maya Resources and Tools > Download Bonus Tools.
  2. Save your template as AE<NodeType>Template.xml where AE and Template designate the file as an Attribute Editor template, and NodeType is the node type for which the template is created.

For example, a custom Attribute Editor template for a blinn shader node is named AEblinnTemplate.xml.
