Max File Exporter
Navisworks cannot read native Max files directly. Use the file exporter to save your files in NWC format, which can be opened in Navisworks.
The file exporter is available for Max 2022.
Note: If you installed the Autodesk Navisworks software with exporter plugins, and you install Max software after Navisworks is installed, you need to update your exporter plugins installation with the appropriate ARX plugins before you can use them.
Export NWC Files from Max
- Click File > Export.
- In the Select File to Export dialog box, select Autodesk Navisworks Cache (*.nwc) in the Save as Type field.
- Enter the name for the file, and browse to the desired storage location.
- Click Save to export the file, or Cancel to return to the application without exporting it.
- Click the More button on the Utilities panel.
- In the Utilities dialog box, select the Autodesk Navisworks option and click OK.
Customize the 3DS File Exporter Options
- Click the Options Editor button on the Autodesk Navisworks menu on the Utilities panel.
- Expand the File Exporters node in the Options Editor, and click the Max page.
- Use the options on this page to adjust the settings for future exports of NWC files from Max applications.
