To exclude anomalies from the fitting calculation of an item

Delete or replace measured points. Change the order of points to adjust the fit of the item.

When you have measured a feature, you can use the Sequence Tree tab to view the probed points for the item. It is best practice to discard or replace anomalies before the item is fitted. Changing the order of points affects the orientation of the item.

Measured Points displays the number of points used to calculate the item followed by the number of points taken. The Geometric Item Points dialog displays the position of each measured point.

You can create measured items by copying and pasting points from other items. For example, you can create a measured cylinder by probing circles at the top and bottom of the cylinder.

Instant Fit has PowerInspect recalculate the item each time you edit the list.

  1. In the inspection sequence, display the measured item you want to work with, and click the icon to display its details.
  2. Double-click Measured Points . The Geometric Item Points dialog displays the position of each measured point.
  3. Choose the measured points to include or exclude:
    • To exclude a point from the item, right-click the list and choose Exclude Selection From Fitting. To reinstate the point, right-click the list and choose Include Selection In Fitting.

Points that are excluded from the fitting calculation of an item are displayed in the CAD view as an X.

    • To delete selected points from the item, right-click the list and choose Delete from the context menu.
    • To paste points into the item from the clipboard, right-click the list and choose Paste And Merge Points from the context menu.
    • To copy selected points to the clipboard, right-click the list and choose Copy Points from the context menu.
  4. To move a point, left-click its entry in the list, and drag it to a new position.

    The points are renumbered automatically.

  5. To reverse the order in which the points are sent to the geometric fitter, right-click the list and select Reverse Order of Points.

This option is available only if no sorting is applied. Click the Fit column title to clear sorting.

  6. To delay the update until you have finished making changes, deselect Instant Fitting. Click Fit Entity when you are ready to recalculate the item.
