About connecting the active document to the measuring device

Select Home tab > Document panel > Attach to control the connection between the active document and the measuring device:

• If the active document is not connected to the measuring device, Attach connects the document to the device. If a document is already connected to the device, it is disconnected. PowerInspect is also connected to the device if it is not already connected.

  When you attach a document to a measuring device, PowerInspect compares the probe database of the document with the probe database of the device. If the probe heads are the same in both databases, the document's Machine tab is updated to show the tool on the device. If the probe heads are different, a warning message is displayed: click Yes to change the head specified in the document's probe database to match the head in the device's probe database; click No to change the device's probe database to match the head specified in the document.

• If the active document is already connected to the measuring device, Attach disconnects the document. It does not disconnect PowerInspect.

Note: The Home tab > Document panel > Attach option is available only when creating inspections for CNC and Manual machines.
