To set sketching options for a Digitised Curve item

  1. In the Sketch Curve Tool dialog, click .
  2. To create a polyline, select the Polyline check box. To create a spline curve, deselect the Polyline check box.
  3. If you created a spline curve, in the Spline Tolerance check box, enter the maximum distance that the curve can vary from the probed points.
  4. To restrict the probed points to a specified plane:
    1. Select the Use Guided Plane check box.
    2. Select Existing Plane, then use the list to select the plane along which you want to probe the part. Alternatively, to use a major plane, select Nominal Plane, select the major axis in the list, and then enter the plane offset in the adjacent check box.
    3. To offset the guided plane along its normal, enter the offset value in the Current Offset check box.
    4. To probe a series of equally spaced curves across the part, select Automatic Plane Offset and enter a step value in the Increment box.

Each time you create a Digitised Curve item, PowerInspect advances the plane along its normal by adding the value to the Current Offset.

    5. In the Plane Tolerance box, enter the maximum distance probed points can be from the guided plane.

Points exceeding this distance are not recorded.

    6. In the Duplicated Point Tolerance box, enter the minimum distance between probed points.

If the distance between the current point and the last recorded point is less than this value, the current point is not recorded. This prevents PowerInspect from recording overlapping points.
